BETH HARVEY

As an artist I believe that everything has the potential to be seen in a different way it just depends on how it is presented to you. Therefore, I am able to capture something ordinary and present it as being something extraordinary by thinking outside the box. By emphasizing one feature of my subject matter or approaching one subject from many different perspectives I can portray a message in the form of fine art photography. My intentions are to illustrate emotions and make someone take something away from my work.

I have been studying photography for the past three years – for two years in sixth form and one year at college. This combination of educational experience has not only taught me how to study the subject as an art but also understand it as a commercial business.

Throughout my years studying the field of photography I have been influenced by a range of other photographers and artists. I feel that some of the most influential photographers that have impacted my work are the likes of Brett Weston, Marilyn Minter and Jonathan Zawada. All have influenced my work in a different way, but continue to impact my work today.

I have gained experience in the field by taking photos for a theater group (this included both head shots and images of the stage show), taking images of stand up shows at a local comedy club and taking photos for a concert in London; this work has been published on an online article for Folk Magazine.
